We are currently seeking a number of General Litigation Lawyers who are 2-4 Years PQE to work on a long-term contract working across Public Law, Employment, Tax and Health in Central Government. You would manage a broad range of varied case work activities complying with policies, standards, procedures and service level agreements. Please note that relevant experience from foreign jurisdictions will also be considered.

You need:

  • Good research and organisational skills
  • Reliable legal judgement and appreciation of legal risk
  • The ability to think strategically and creatively, see legal issues in their wider context and advise accordingly
  • Sound analysis, using secure legal research to produce timely and fit for purpose advice
  • An understanding of the role of lawyers in government
  • Ability to deal with complex and non-routine cases exercising appropriate levels of delegation and risk management
  • To provide a legal service that addresses client needs from outset of each case through to case completion
  • To manage all aspects of the client relationship for each allocated case
  • To build and maintain relationships with clients demonstrating an understanding of commercial, political and policy context
  • Keep each client informed as the case progresses
  • Ensure the timely handling of invoices during each case

You Have:

  • LPC / BVC / BPTC qualification (Barrister or Solicitor)
  • Degree level 2:1 minimum
  • A minimum of 2 years' PQE
  • 2 to 4 years litigation experience
  • Proven experience in managing own litigation caseload
  • Experience of specific area of litigation not required but knowledge of public law an advantage
  • Experience of litigation strategy
  • Public sector/Central Government experience (ideal but not essential)
  • Good drafting and written ability
  • Excellent time management skills
