OUr client is currently undergoing a major transformation programme and is looking for a Senior Programme Support Officer to provide support and co-ordination for a broad range of activities. The successful candidate will become a key member fo the delivery team

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide project support, advice and guidance to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and management of the long term strategic plans
  • Monitor programme schedules and budgets and ensure effective and timely programme management to agreed budgets
  • Produce planned and updated project and summary reports, including cost breakdowns for distribution to respective Project Boards
  • Develop and enable strong programme management techniques to ensure consistent approach
  • Drive continuous service improvement and responsiveness to new ideas and ways of working
  • Maintain strong governance throughout all programmes and projects

Skills and experience:

  • Proven track record managing complex strategic projects in a public sector environment
  • Advanced experience of project methodologies
  • Outstanding negotiation and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, candidate must be highly numerate and have the ability to interpret and resolve complex financial data
  • Previous experience of budget management for projects
  • Advanced IT skills
  • Previous experience working for a local authority would be beneficial
